3304.0 Cancer Prevention and Control among Asians & Pacific IslandersMonday, November 9, 2009: 2:30 PM
Roundtable
Cancer is the leading cause of death among Asians and Pacific Islanders. This session will describe distinct forms of cancers which impact specific Asian and Pacific Islander subgroups in the United States. In addition, the roundtable discussion of community knowledge and intervention approaches will be pivotal to a comprehensive approaches to eliminating cancer disparities among this population.
Session Objectives: At the end of the session, participants will be able to: (1) Describe cancer disparities impacting specific Asian and Pacific Islander subgroups; (2) Identify approaches to intervention and evaluation reducing cancer disparities among Asians and Pacific Islanders in the United States; and (3) Discuss knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs pertaining to cancer diagnosis and progression among the Asian and Pacific Islander community.
