3443.0 Film & Technology Session - IH 04: Three Videos

Monday, November 9, 2009: 6:30 PM
Oral

Introductory Remarks
Collision Course. 30:00 minutes. Around 85% of deaths from road traffic crashes occur in developing countries, costing them between 1-1.5% of their annual GNP. Without action, and with the growing number of cars on the roads in thriving new middle-income countries like India and Brazil, road deaths and disabilities are likely to rise still further.Through the eyes of road campaigner Harman Sidhu, who is himself a paraplegic after a road crash, this special Life program looks at the current situation in both countries - and reviews what positive steps are being taken to confront this serious health issue
Homo Toxicus. 30:00 minutes. Explores the links between the hundreds of toxic pollutants in our environment and increasing health problems
Addicted to Plastic. 30:00 minutes. Reveals the history and worldwide scope of plastics pollution, investigates its toxicity and explores solutions
