The purpose of this session is to describe recent health statistics and outcomes in the Middle East, focusing on the continuing ravaging impact of war on medical care and health care systems. Research to identify conflict-related factors affecting health outcomes will be presented. Strategies to rebuild medical systems and the health of Middle East communities will be explored.
Session Objectives: 1- Describe the devastating effects to health and health care systems in the Middle East due to continuing conflict. 2- Identify the relationship between specific violence-related factors and health outcomes. 3- Discuss approaches to rebuild health care systems and reverse adverse health trends in the Middle East.
