4263.0 Rights-based Approaches to Health: Making Health Care Universal

Tuesday, November 10, 2009: 2:30 PM
Oral
The current global financial crisis and the new Obama administration present a unique opportunity to advance public health and human rights to a new level of performance based on the universal right to health, and to commit to do what is right for our growing global population within the existing resources available. Making rational use of the limited resources available along with a strong commitment to change can lead to a significant change in the way health and health care are perceived in the US and abroad. This panel will present the foundation to start on this path towards universal health coverage and improved return on the investments in health,as well as practical applications to do it.
