The U.S. Congress is undertaking an historic debate on health reform. Advocates for various proposals will describe their approaches to reform, and assess the impact of events on access, coverage, quality, and affordability. Speakers will present their work on campaigns for single payer program, a state single payer option, women's health, and support for public health and community-based providers.
Session Objectives: 1. Identify the health reform policies adopted and rejected by Congress in 2009. 2. Discuss single payer and other approaches to health care financing and cost control. 3. Assess the impact of reform proposals on quality, coverage and access.
