Animal Abuse and Domestic Violence Panel

As a Community Services Officer for the City of Wheat Ridge, CO. I will list, discuss, explain, and identify the findings (to-date) of a 6 month pilot project addressing the correlation of animal abuse and domestic violence, as well as other case examples of animal cruelty that have taken place during my service as an Animal Control Officer. I am assigned the responsibility for the investigation of animal cruelty and other animal issues, along with other police and animal care staff as necessary. Investigation can include effects caused from the linkage with cruelty of pets and other animals, and other forms of abuse/violence. Animal abuse and cruelty is associated with a number of public health, mental and general health, along with social concerns, including: those that cause concern for law enforcement, for the well being of the person, the community and the animal that is affected by the actions. I will report our field study findings and list our analyzed data that recommend intervention and learning objectives from the compiled data gathered to-date.
