Data sharing has become a necessary component of collaborations aimed at solving society's most urgent health challenges. The mission of the newly established National Addiction and HIV Data Archive Program (NAHDAP) is to facilitate research on drug addiction and HIV infection by enhancing, sharing, and preserving of data produced by research grants funded by the National Institutes on Drug Abuse. Sharing data can offer researchers opportunities to address questions that require large samples with the rich multi-level and longitudinal data that may be difficult and expensive to collect. Secondary analyses can lead to significant advances in the addiction/HIV field, while taking advantage of the public's investment in rich data resources. NAHDAP, located within the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research at the University of Michigan, acquires, preserves and disseminates data relevant to drug addiction and HIV research. In addition to providing access to research data, NAHDAP provides technical assistance for data depositors and workshops on data preparation and data systems of interest to the addiction/HIV research community. In this poster, we will describe the activities of NAHDAP as well as the data systems that are currently available through this new data archive.
