“Improving environmental health practice through the use of the national Environmental Public Health Performance Standards (EnvPHPS)"
Tuesday, November 9, 2010
: 4:45 PM - 5:00 PM
All communities are entitled to excellent environmental quality and public health services. The Environmental Public Health Performance Standards have been developed by CDC to help agencies assess how well they are meeting this goal. Results from the use of the national Environmental Public Health Performance Standards (EnvPHPS) show that the tool is consistent in identifying community inequities and gaps in agency performance, and that the use of the tool leads to improvements in community environmental health services, and greater community involvement in and knowledge about environmental health issues and strategies. Participants will learn how the EnvPHPS have been used by programs around the country to improve local, state, and tribal community environmental health services, and will hear about specific examples of results. Participants will also be provided with specific hands-on information on how they can access and use the free Standards and related tools in their own agencies to improve the equity, effectiveness, and performance of the services they provide.
