226213 Student Internship in India - Experiences and Reflections

Students from accredited school of public health are required to complete a supervised and planned internship experience in which concepts and skills learned in the classroom are put into practice. As part of a panel of students and recent graduates, I shall share the experience of procuring a paid internship, describe the nature of the work, and the challenges and lessons learnt of living and working in a cross-cultural environment.

- Describe the process of acquiring a paid-internship in India - challenges and lessons learned - Describe the work done in the internship and using examples, the importance of remaining adaptable and flexible while working internationally. - Enunciate the cross-cultural and workplace challenges in a public health setting within India - Discuss how the international practicum/internship can enhance understanding of public health within a developing country setting.
