227264 Advancing Telehealth through Collaborative Policy Development

The California Telemedicine & eHealth Center (CTEC) completed an innovative collaborative policy project in 2009 to identify policy and related activites that would expand and optimize the use of telehealth in California. The collaborative brought together major stakeholders to develop recommendations on policy for appropriate payment and supporting structures. This presentation will provide a desciption of the collaborative development process, an overview of the recommendations and an assessment of impact of the recommendations on subsequent policy and implementation efforts thoughout the state. This project and the resulting policy brief receive nationwide attention for taking a broad approach to telehealth policy development and for using a structured collaborative process. This presentation provides a one year report card on the projects influcence and outcomes.
