Michelle Clausen, BS , Train, Public Health Foundation, Washington, DC
Session Objectives: 1.Demonstrate how TRAIN can be used to collect and analyze data as well as track participants in this pilot project. 2.Describe how participants in this initiative will be tracked over the next 2-3 years to see if they pursue public health training/career.

The Public Health Foundation (PHF) is a national non-profit organization that for more than 35 years has been on the forefront of initiatives designed to strengthen and improve the infrastructure and performance of public health systems at all levels through technical assistance, research and training.

In an effort to develop an outreach plan that would increase the number of minorities that pursue a public health career, PHF and Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) entered into partnership to develop, implement, analyze, and track a pilot project. Funded by a cooperative agreement granted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), minority students from FAMU served as the target audience that participated in this initiative by completing selected introductory public health courses on TRAIN. Upon completion of these trainings, participants in this initiative responded to survey/evaluation questions. This information is being used to improve upon and reproduce this model.

This session will discuss the analysis of the data collected from this innovative pilot project. Attendees participating in this session will be provided with information on how TRAIN can be used to collect and analyze data, and also to track the participants in an initiative of this nature.
