A major part of ongoing health reform proposals is to encourage healthcare providers and the healthcare system to use Health information Technologies as one means of improving efficiency, reducing waste and redundancy. The Office of the National Coordinator was established to oversee federal initiatives in this area. This session will discuss the priorities of the Office of the National Coordinator and the federal perspective on the role of HIT in addressing healthcare disparities.
