231888 Partnerships and Preparation: Experiences of the Safe States Alliance (formerly STIPDA) with Health-Related Report CardsMonday, November 8, 2010
: 5:15 PM - 5:30 PM
The Safe States Alliance (formerly the State and Territorial Injury Prevention Directors Association – STIPDA) formed a partnership with the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) in 2007 to provide accurate and timely information for the National Report Card on the State of Emergency Medicine, which includes a letter grade for the state's public health and injury prevention efforts. Many state health department injury and violence prevention programs were surprised by the release of the inaugural National Report Card in 2006, and some found that the information utilized to describe their state's efforts were not accurate. In response, Safe States shares data collected through the State of the States survey, a biannual assessment of state health department injury and violence prevention program capacity and functioning. Safe States has also created press releases and talking points for states to use in responding to internal and external inquiries about grades.
