231899 Improving public health systems near, far, and in the futureMonday, November 8, 2010
: 2:30 PM - 2:50 PM
State and local communities vary widely, but all face similar challenges in collaborating with public health partners, working more effectively as a system, and accomplishing more with less while improving the quality of public health. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and its partners have established tools such as the National Public Health Performance Standards (NPHPSP) and Mobilizing Action through Planning and Partnerships (MAPP) that offer a framework for building public health partnerships and improving the performance and quality of public health systems. This session will address the role of the NPHPSP and MAPP in improving public health. Speakers will discuss NPHPSP use within the United States and in international settings, including its recent adaptation for use in Israel. Speakers will also unveil new information about the future role of the NPHPSP, highlighting plans and opportunities for building on its proven value, while anticipating its role within the new environment of public health. We will highlight the NPHPSP's role in engaging and strengthening public health system partnerships while preparing for and maintaining agency accreditation.
