232220 Violence in the Border Region: A Public Health Perspective

The Pan American Health Organization, Regional Office of the World Health Organization has been providing technical cooperation in violence and injury prevention for over a decade. The World Health Reports define and present a situation analysis of violence and injuries in the various regions of the world, including the types of violence, causal and risk factors and the epidemiology of violence and injuries. The violence and injury related statistics on the US-Mexico Border Region will be discussed and the special case of Ciudad Juarez as well as the Juarez violence and injury prevention observatory will be presented.
