The goal of this session is to share fresh approaches to addressing the delivery of health care to immigrants and their families, regardless of legal status, in California and across nation under the health care reform act. The session will address the situation of legal immigrants with limited federal coverage and undocumented immigrants with no stated coverage. The session will offer a robust discussion on solutions to delivering healthcare to immigrants and families.

Recognize the complexities inherent to federal immigration law and allowable state options to cover immigrants. Identify three reasons for providing some type of coverage or health delivery to provide care to excluded and vulnerable populations. List three programs or facilities that offer services to migrant workers and seasonal workers. Articulate previous efforts to cover undocumented children and adults as part of public health insurance programs. Assess the political landscape that may bear on future efforts to include migrant populations as part of comprehensive immigration reform.
