This presentation will address the history, implementation and follow-up of Age Friendly Cities in Portland, OR and give suggestions and strategies for others who wish to become Age Friendly Cities.

Identify at least three criteria for becoming an Age Friendly City. Compare at least two major components of the designs and implementation of Portland, OR as an Age Friendly City. Name at least two public health initiatives that resulted from the Age Friendly Cities process.

Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: I was requested by the World Health Organization to participate in its Age-Friendly Cities project by collecting and analyzing data in Portland, Oregon, one of 33 cities across the globe that were selected. I am continuing to work with the City of Portland and the County and regional governments to gather additional data and to implement the findings from the original study.
