The Prepare to Prosper presentation looks at preparedness through a marketing and social change framework. Ms. Jones will discuss how looking at vulnerable people as consumers with the power of choice, rather than as inevitable disaster victims, allows for social change and for preparedness to be an agent of transformation.

Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: I have over 21 years in professional emergency management focused on serving vulnerable communities. Approximately 10 of my early work years were spent in advertising and marketing research. I teach at UC Berkeley Center for Infectious Disease Preparedness on the topic of vulnerable communities. And, I am a lifelong preparedness wonk, born and raised in what is called a “vulnerable community
