Of the 44 communities that were awarded funds by Communities Putting Prevention to Work (CPPW), 21 of these community grantees were funded to work on tobacco control interventions over a two-year funding window. As a part of the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the communities were required to include interventions in a work plan that focused on each of five topic areas: media, access, point of purchase, price, and social support. Additionally, communities without a comprehensive smoke-free policy were required in the FOA to commit to including a plan to work on achieving smoke-free status.
