This presentation will outline the history of racism and oppression in the U.S. It will provide a context for understanding how racism and oppression have been significant forces that have denied various populations equity and social justice historically and the long standing implications for those populations and the nation today. This experience will speak to American Indians, African Americans as well as reference other populations.

Compare the experiences of American Indians, African Americans and other populations. Differentiate between the various historical experiences that American Indians, African Americans, and others have had in this country. Assess the factors that have promoted inequity and social injustice over time.
