Discuss the need to engage in research on the epidemiology, impact and efficacy of strategies to assist returning military and their families regarding combat and deployment related mental health issues, with a particular focus on stress and anxiety.

The presentation will cover important and realistic perspectives about suicide/mental health issues along with identifying practical approaches that can make a difference in the lives of veterans and their families. As a nation and health care community, we must pay particular attention to their needs and the needs of their families, as they transition back into society.

The presentation will explore sociocultural factors and attitudes that adversely impact and impede men and women from engaging the health care system with a particular focus on mental health issues and circumstances surrounding the culture of military service.

Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: I have designed a conceptual framework to reach military men, women, and their families off-base with critical resources and key services. I'm a Doctor of Pharmacy with over three decades of broad experience in industry and education/academic management, public affairs, health and regulatory policy, alliance development, professional practice and education. Diverse experience and track record of success in developing strategies and programs to achieve business and academic objectives. Track record as a leader in health care industry academia and practice. I am responsible to the Belmont University Dean, School of Pharmacy for development, administration and quality assurance and improvement for the Professional Practice Experience Program for the Doctor of Pharmacy program at Belmont. This program is currently undergoing development for provisional accreditation by the ACPE. In collaboration with other senior administrative and teaching faculty I'm developing the policy, operating and administrative structure, coordination of the integrated curriculum and programs, site recruitment and management as well as for site, adjunct faculty and mentor development. I'm also responsible to the Dean of the School of Pharmacy for development and implementations of outreach initiatives and strategies for alliances within and outside of the School of Pharmacy. I'm also coordinating development of resources for support of pharmacy programs and projects. I serve on several committees on a rotating basis and is a permanent member of the school of pharmacy’s Executive Committee, Curriculum Committee and chair of the Experiential Education External Advisory Board. In my capacity as SOP Director of Development is a member of the Belmont University College of Health Sciences Development Steering Committee that has responsibility for developing and directing the capitol campaign for the new 90,000sq/ft building that will house the school of pharmacy and other health sciences programs. I also serve as Advisor to the APhA-ASP chapter.
