The US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) has been developing evidence-based prevention recommendations for the health care community since it was first formed in 1984. An independent panel of prevention, research and primary care experts, it is hosted by the Agency on Health Research and Quality and works with evidence-based practice centers and an explicit process. The Patient Protection and Affordability Act specifies that services that the USPSTF give an A or B recommendation for (recommends for provision) should be covered with “first dollar” coverage. This, together with the additional recognition of the recommendations of CDC's Task Force on Community Preventive Services, will likely have significant impact on the public health community
