I am qualified to give this presentation because of my long term commitment to and active involvement in addressing mental health issues within the Asian American, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders. As Executive Director of the National Asian American Pacific Islander Mental Health Association, I have worked closely with community based organizations around the country, other national AANHPI serving organizations and state and federal officials to advocate on behalf of the critical need to eliminate disparities in the quality of mental health services for our diverse populations. With over 30 years of direct experience working with AANHPIs, I have helped write numerous policy statements and published articles on workforce development, cultural competence and improving language access. I frequently speak on the issue and continue to advocate for improved services.
