5060.0 An Epidemiological Approach to Maternal Outcomes

Wednesday, November 10, 2010: 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM
Oral
Theses four papers focus on maternal characteristics and outcomes risk behaviors and depression and represent state or county data from Colorado, Washington and California. Two papers present analyses using Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (or a similar counterpart). The first utilized the data to demonstrate the impact of a prenatal intervention on adequate birthweight. The second described analyses to assess the extent of depression screening. All three papers recommend provider based interventions. The fourth paper discusses growth mixture modeling as a methodology to mine longitudinal data, in this case also for maternal depression. The final paper reports on analyses that informed a community level assessment on maternal and infant health to inform local priority setting
Session Objectives: Participants will be able to 1 - compare analyses using PRAMS/PRAMS-like data to assess program impact over time 2 - discuss different modeling approaches in MCH epidemiologic analyses
