5193.0 APHA Closing General SessionWednesday, November 10, 2010: 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM
Oral
The passage and signing of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010, were historic moments that irrevocably changed the health system within the United States at every level. For nearly a century, providing quality, affordable care to all Americans has eluded our grasp. The new laws in combination strengthen our public health system, invest in prevention, improve the health of the American people and move us closer to providing comprehensive and affordable health coverage for all Americans.
The closing session will focus on the new laws and their implications for the current health system at the local, state and federal level as well as looking beyond the scope of these policies to what is missing, what is wrong and what the next stops might be to move this country and our residents toward our stated goal of being the Healthiest Nation in One Generation.
