The purpose of this session is to examine the research that has been conducted related to HIV testing in among differing populations. The findings of the presentations shared will enhance testing strategies and opportunities. In addition to understanding factors that are associated with testing success, opportunities associated with substance abuse treatment centers will be addressed. This session will examine HIV testing among high school students, routine testing in the Veteran Affairs System, and among African American men who have sex with men. These oral sessions will highlight future intervention opportunities.
Session Objectives: Demonstrate how routine rapid HIV testing works in a VA system
Discuss opportunities for HIV testing in substance abuse treatment facilities
Analyze factors associated with testing among high school students with a history of substance abuse
