4288.1 The New US Global Health Initiative: Implications for American Public HealthTuesday, November 9, 2010: 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM
Oral
President Obama’s administration has launched a new Global Health Initiate (GHI) to improve health outcomes by strengthening health systems in low-income countries, and integrating programs to improve health by addressing infectious disease, nutrition, maternal and child health, and safe water. Through the GHI, the United States’ global health and development investments would reach $63 billion over six years. This is an important opportunity for public health at home and abroad.
Panelists from the federal government, private sector and NGOs will discuss key implications for American public health professionals as well as opportunities to engage and shape future directions.
