Population, Reproductive and Sexual Health

The PRSH Section invites abstracts relating to Population, Reproductive and Sexual Health. Our section welcomes abstracts from both international and domestic perspectives. In recognition of the important contributions young people make to our field, we encourage submissions to our student poster session. An award will be given to the best student poster at our annual awards ceremony.

Abstract should be submitted along the lines of the following specific areas:
  • Abortion
  • Adolescent sexual and reproductive health
  • Contraceptive use and contraceptive technologies
  • Dual protection
  • Gender and sexual and reproductive health
  • Infertility
  • Management and sustainability
  • Men and sexual and reproductive health
  • Population and the environment
  • Quality of care/client provider interaction
  • Reproductive and sexual health rights
  • Reproductive technologies
  • Sexual health and sexuality
  • Student Poster Session
Preference will be given to abstracts that feature cutting-edge concepts and innovations, best practices, and/or lessons learned from domestic and international programs. Abstracts will be judged on their contribution to the field of PRSH, relevance to the theme of social justice, clarity of presentation, originality, methodology and breadth of interest.

If you are interested in organizing a panel, please e-mail Andrzej Kulczycki at andrzej@uab.edu with the proposed panel topic and participants. You MUST specify “APHA Abstract” in the subject of all abstract submission-email. All abstracts must be submitted and reviewed individually and if accepted will be placed into sessions at the discretion of the Program Committee Chair.

Continuing Education Credit
APHA values the ability to provide continuing education credit to physicians, nurses, health educators and those certified in public health at its annual meeting. Please complete all required information when submitting an abstract so members can claim credit for attending your session. These credits are necessary for members to keep their licenses and credentials.

For a session to be eligible for Continuing Education Credit, each presenter must provide:

1) an abstract free of trade and/or commercial product names

2) at least one MEASURABLE objective (DO NOT USE understand or to learn as objectives, they are not measureable).

Examples of Acceptable Measurable Action Words:
Explain, Demonstrate, Analyze, Formulate, Discuss, Compare, Differentiate, Describe, Name, Assess, Evaluate, Identify, Design, Define or List.

3) A signed Conflict of Interest (Disclosure) form with a relevant Qualification Statement. See an example of an acceptable Qualification Statement on the online Disclosure form.
