The purpose of the poster is to describe the process and resultant student-developed business plan for the Community Alliance Network (CAN). The goal of the Community Alliance Network is to increase independence through community involvement and prevent homelessness by providing quality care competently and efficiently for the individuals and families they serve. The Community Alliance Network is plan for an after hours resource that provides crisis intervention, counseling, community resource linkage, and daily living skills. A selected group of Stockton College MSW students developed CAN after learning that the Atlantic City Housing Authority recognized a need for after hours crisis services to aide Section 8 residents who had limited access to other area services. At present time, CAN is working with Inlet Towers, a Section 8 housing development in Atlantic City, NJ to develop a pilot program to be put in place by December 2011. CAN hopes to expand to neighboring Section 8 developments within the next five years.
