Implementing Policy, Systems, and Environmental Change Strategies

The purpose of this presentation is to highlight the intricate steps of the implementation process. Participants will review case studies that draw from and utilize various CDC resources to implement Community Actions Plans that employ policy, systems, and environmental change strategies. Case studies will be examined to analyze strengths and weaknesses during the implementation phase to identify components for replication.

Presenting author's disclosure statement:Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: I serve as an evaluation specialist/health research analyst within the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Healthy Communities Program (HCP). I provide evaluation support across several HCP efforts, including providing leadership in developing and implementing a state-of-the-art national evaluation and monitoring system. I develop technical support materials for HCP’s Strategic Alliance for Health (SAH) communities, Pioneering Healthier Communities (PHC), and ACHIEVE (Action Communities for Health, Innovation, and EnVironmental ChangE) communities, as well as provide leadership for the development and successful dissemination of SAH's Implementation Guides. Additionally, I review documented progress, and analyze existing and proposed policy, systems, and environmental change strategies implemented by HCP communities. I have presented to numerous national and local audiences, and have authored or co-authored research articles for professional journals.
