The key contributors to building understanding and empowerment regarding health disparities are the community partners that work to develop service learning courses. Discussion will focus on the definition of roles of faculty and partners when developing a service learning course and sustaining the partnership beyond the actual service learning activities. Participants will be engaged in group discussion and role play to identify the barriers and obstacles in developing meaningful community partnerships. Discussion will include methods for integrating community members into the all steps of the planning and reflection activities.
