Health Equity Efforts in the States and Territories from 2007 to today
Wednesday, November 2, 2011: 1:10 PM
State health equity efforts are a key part of multi-level initiatives to reduce disparities and achieve health equity in this country. In 2007 the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials began a robust plan of gauging state and territorial health equity efforts with a national survey. This assessment of state health equity efforts continued with case studies in 2009 and continues today with the Minority Health Survey of 2011. The presentation will analyze the data from all of these instruments together to determine the trajectory of state and territorial health efforts to address health equity. Conclusions from the analysis will consider determinants for the success of state and territorial health equity efforts and examine next steps to support these efforts. Last, the presentation will examine state and territorial efforts against the framework of other levels of efforts at both the federal and local levels and will discuss a harmonization of effort and potential next steps from the results of this analysis.
