Introduction:

Telehealth is accessing, creating, and/or delivering preventive, promotive and/or curative health-related communications using technology. In the Fall of 2009, YOUR Center developed a CBPR model for training a group of 10 African American high school students, “Healthy Sexy Vikings”, leverage telehealth to create and disseminate HIV Prevention and Impact Awareness resources. Some of the resources developed include (a) a Healthy Sexuality Jeopardy Game; (b) a skit entitled “On Fire”; and (c) an interactive map of STI/HIV Service Providers.

Since 2010, YOUR Center has received funding to expand the efforts of the Health Sexy Vikings, which includes training additional 6 - 8 African American and Hispanic youth to implement a series of youth led Serious Play conferences that over 120 African and Hispanic youth attended. This youth lead presentation will (a) discuss the majors findings of the conferences; (b) highlight some of the resources developed (c) identify best practices when using telehealth and CBPR to engage urban youth.
