This session will explain how a state-wide PK-12 electronic student health record system was accessed in order to conduct data mining of de-identified health information to determine long term trends in the student population. Electronic healthcare collection tools for student health data can improve and guide the development of intervention programs with local community partners and constitute a low-cost surveillance system utilizing data routinely collected by trained health professionals.
