The Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2010 was released in the midst of an overweight/obesity epidemic in the United States. As such, the Guidelines include a more prominent focus on calorie balance and healthy weight status than ever before. This presentation will include a discussion of the current evidence-based recommendations related to calorie balance/obesity prevention, as well as a discussion of how these recommendations may be implemented by public health practitioners to affect change at a population level.
