The Affordable Care Act provisions for oral health include new avenues to increase access to oral health care, prevent disease and improve oral health literacy, enhance the oral health workforce and strengthen the dental public health infrastructure. However, many of the provisions remain unfunded. This presentation will provide an update on HHS initiatives authorized by the Affordable Care Act, funding status, and current activities. Other federal initiatives will be discussed that have possible implications for oral health the future.
