253684 Valley Preferred BeneFIT ToolkitMonday, October 31, 2011: 10:30 AM
This session explores the development of the Valley Preferred BeneFITSM Toolkit, a step-by-step reference guide designed to assist small, medium, and large-sized employers with effectively designing, planning, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive worksite health and wellness program. The concept for the Valley Preferred BeneFIT Toolkit was born from Valley Preferred business client requests for a standalone resource to guide and support worksite wellness efforts. Many business clients also seek consistent and cohesive guidance for reaching multiple company locations and for addressing diverse employee health needs. A variety of methods were employed to develop this resource, including in-depth interviews, focus groups, and surveys, the results of which informed how the final product was organized, aesthetically designed, and expanded in content and resources. The BeneFIT Toolkit is designed to impact the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of corporate staff responsible for managing their company's worksite wellness program. While it can be used to implement worksite health programs on any health topic, the Toolkit does explain the importance of planning interventions that positively impact employee health behaviors in areas that most affect morbidity and health care costs in the United States: Healthy Eating, Physical Activity, Self-Care, Stress Management, and Tobacco Use. Content material was developed to follow the tenets of the United States Department of Health and Human Services Strategic Prevention Framework and was reviewed by a team of Certified Health Education Specialists, Registered Nurses, and Physician Medical Directors for accuracy and plain language.
