Trauma Foundation's perspective on injury prevention

The Trauma Foundation (TF) has become an internationally recognized leader in injury prevention and an “incubator” of projects and organizations committed to the prevention of traumatic injuries. The Executive Director's presentation will explore the past accomplishments focusing on policies that make a difference. Traumatic Foundation advocated for fire-safe cigarettes, in collaboration with burn survivors, doctors and nurses, burn centers, fire service organizations, and tobacco control organizations. This coalition worked for the passage of the nation's first firesafe cigarette bill in New York State, which took effect in 2003.
Learning Objectives: Describe the multiple components of a 25 year public health campaign that recognized cigarettes as a fire hazard.

Specifically, I have led campaigns to mandate fire safe cigarettes, the banning of Saturday Night Specials and the implementation of mandatory seat belt laws, etc.
