Firearm screening and counseling is a standard prevention recommendation in health care, particularly in primary and mental health care. In June 2011 Florida passed a law restricting health care providers and facilities from asking about access to firearms. This presentation will analyze the process leading to bill passage, policy implications and current challenges to the law.
