The Multi-State Learning Collaborative (MLC), managed by the National Network of Public Health Institutes and funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, represents a considerable investment in public health improvement. The six-year project was an investment of dollars, time, energy and ideas. A total of 17 states, hundreds of local health departments, numerous universities and public health institutes, and all the major public health associations in the country have committed time and effort to the MLC. When the MLC came to a close in the summer of 2011, there were many legacies, including improved knowledge, practice, partnerships, and policy – all toward a stronger public health system in our nation. The presenters in this session will share about the major accomplishments of the MLC, how the efforts are being sustained, and what comes next. Learn how the MLC has contributed to the transformation of public health, and how its lessons may be applied to your work.
