Liberal Education and America's Promise (LEAP) is a national initiative of the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AACU) that champions the importance of a 21st century liberal education. Through LEAP, hundreds of campuses and several state systems are making far-reaching educational changes to help all their students - whatever their chosen field of study - achieve a set of essential learning outcomes fostered through liberal education. Recognizing public health's basic role in preventing illness and suffering, AACU launched the “Educated Citizen and Public Health” initiative to foster access to education in public health to all 2-year and 4-year undergraduate institutions. This presentation will provide an overview of this initiative within the LEAP campaign and its efforts to help all students to meet the social, scientific and economic demands of a globally interdependent world.
