Floodwaters damaged or destroyed all of the school-based health centers in the Greater New Orleans area after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. An infusion of philanthropic resources aided in the rapid rebuilding and restoration of vital school-based health care, particularly behavioral health services. The impact of school-based health care on access to quality care and in the reduction of high risk behaviors in a post-trauma environment is described.

My work also promotes the expansion of SBHCs and promotes the development of quality SBHC services.
