Disclosure statement:
Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: I am a veteran health quality and advocacy professional in the MPH program at the Jefferson School of Population Health program with expertise in quality measurement, partnerships and advocacy. I have been elected Counselor to the Medical Care Section to help AHPA meet the challenges associated with protecting the health of vulnerable populations. My professional career has involved partnership creation to improve preventive and patient-centered health services. As Vice President of the National Minority Quality Forum (NMQF) I organized over 200 non-profit patient advocacy organizations and conducted US advocacy briefings. I was Founding Executive Director of the Center for Clinical Quality Evaluation (CCQE), originally the American Medical Review Research Center (AMRRC) which in the 90’s was the only national membership organization dedicated to improving state-of-the art quality evaluation and measurement. I led multi-faceted quasi-experimental medical practice variation studies, and performance measure development and implementation research which resulted in my being named one of 25 leading innovators in health outcomes and effectiveness research. Leadership examples include: current Board membership for the FIRELIGHT FOUNDATION for African children, the NCQA awards committee for innovation in multicultural health care; the AHRQ CERTs Steering Committee; the CMS SCRIPT Steering Committee’s on quality measures; and JCAHO advisory panels to improve the quality and safety of medications and Counselor representative to the AHPA Medical Care Section
