This session presents studies on the health and health care issues for elderly women. Topics include differences in experiences of stress among female and male patients in a Stroke and Heart Attack Prevention Program, a qualitative survey of perceived barriers to physician care for women with coronary artery disease, ways to improve access and quality of care for rural veterans women, online dating experiences of older women, and cardiac rehabilitation issues for elder women.
Session Objectives: 1. Discuss the differences in experiences with daily stressors between females and males in a state stroke and heart attack prevention program.
2. Describe several perceived barriers to follow-up care for older women with coronary artery disease based on a survey of women with a Medigap program.
3. Discuss ways to increase the safety of women over the age of 50 who are dating online.
