Oral
This interesting session will cover important topics in cancer epidemiology. Specific talks will include an assessment of performance of Q-statistics for identifying cancer clusters in residential histories using simulated clusters in US and Danish case-control studies; HPV burden in the Haitian community of Miami, Florida; knowledge of risk factors of cervical cancer among women in Togo (West Africa); empirical comparison of control sampling schemes in a nested case-control cancer mortality study; and a pathological examination of axillary lymph nodes (ALNs) as a predictor of survival in women with invasive breast cancer and associated health disparities.
Session Objectives: At the end of this session, the learner (attendee) will be able to:
1. Describe an approach for assessment of performance of Q-statistics for identifying cancer clusters in residential histories using simulated clusters in US and Danish case-control studies;
2. Articulate the HPV burden in the Haitian community of Miami, Florida;
3. Discuss risk factors of cervical cancer among women in Togo (West Africa);
4. Understand an empirical comparison of control sampling schemes in a nested case-control cancer mortality study;
5. Describe a pathological examination of axillary lymph nodes (ALNs) as a predictor of survival in women with invasive breast cancer and associated health disparities.
