This session focuses on the Health Disparities and Inequities. It will present research on the development of: gender specific interventions for HIV testing in African Americans; policy efforts to promote equity in access to food outlets; a program to assist low income patient to become active participants in their health care; and to describe factors that influence rural women in the cancer treatment decisions.
Session Objectives: 1. Discuss the basis of gender specific interventions. 2. Discuss policy strategies that promote equity. 3. Evaluate patient-provider decision making process. 4. Describe the factors that influence cancer treatment decisions for rural women.
