This session will analyze key provisions of the UN Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Application of these provisions for both children and adults with mental and intellectual disabilities will be discussed. Examples of the difficulties persons with disabilities face in society will be given. A global perspective on progress toward the UN Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Ukraine will be presented.
Session Objectives: Identify key provisions of the UN Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Describe application of the key provisions for children and adults with mental and intellectual disabilities. Evaluate progress toward the UN Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Ukraine.
