167.0 Maternal Child Health and the Affordable Care ActSunday, October 30, 2011: 10:00 AM
Business Meeting
The MCH Section's annual Town Hall this year will focus on the Affordable Care Act. The purpose of the panel presentations is to: 1) highlight implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) from a national perspective and implications for maternal and child health (MCH) populations; 2) highlight and discuss key issues related to the implementation of ACA for states, particularly issues related to home visiting and advancing preconception health, and related recommendations for optimizing ACA; 3)highlight and discuss key issues related to the implementation of ACA from the perspective of a state/local Medicaid agency, the implications for MCH populations, and recommendations for optimizing implementation of ACA; and 4) outline and discuss the role of the MCH Section and in particular, a report of the Committee on Women’s Rights.
Session Objectives: 1) Describe key national implementation issues under ACA that affect MCH populations.
2) Analyze key issues regarding implementation of ACA, particularly those related to home visiting and preconception health, implications for MCH populations, and recommendations for optimizing in these areas.
3)Describe the key components of the report from the Committee on Women’s Rights and its recommendations for ACA implementation.
