The purpose of the session is to review the twenty Action Steps which comprise the 2011 Surgeon General's Call to Action to Support Breastfeeding. The actions cover a range of activities related to: mothers and their families, communities, health care, employment, research and surveillance, and public health infrastructure. Examples from how the Call to Action is being utilized to mobilize change related to breastfeeding will be presented and discussed.
Session Objectives: Describe the key points and purpose of the Surgeon General's Call to Action to Support Breastfeeding
Identify existing ongoing activities related to the Call to Action that can be applied in one's own efforts
