This session will describe how states, counties and local mental health authorities are responding to state budget cuts and health reform, including cutting services and opportunities for improvement.
Session Objectives: Discuss the impact of state budget cuts and the scheduled implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act on community mental health agencies Demonstrate how State Medicaid programs are being devolved to counties and the implications of these changes for future county mental health and substance use programs. Discuss reasons why it is important for states to assess rural behavioral health care services and develop policies to realistically address the needs of rural residents
